Hi John,
The Dome was a great success!
The package arrived well and I have unpacked to have a look to test some of the parts and how to clad it.
This is an image of 2 triangles will 1/4" ply. It looks lovely.
I have sourced the pipes for Europe and will be arriving on Monday there to go buy them to make the cuts.
Thank you,
Adelle
Preliminary Dome struts as a test with 1/4" plywood panels for Art Fair in Berlin, Germany.
Hi John!
The project went well, and was not without it's own charm and challenges. Getting the right sized piping proved to be a real mission and wasn't something I could get organized until I was on the ground. I ended up having to go around to 6 different hardware stores and clearing out their section of 2m 32mm diameter pipe. :)
The process of cutting all my own pipe and then putting it together with a hand jigsaw (I got some help with the assembly) was truly unparalleled. My helpers, none of them knew how to build, were themselves surprised at how wonderful the system was.
We also decided not to cover the entire structure with wood as it would create to much darkness so mixed in with tyvek material, which worked aesthetically I think.. The black triangles are conductive paint the played musical notes when touched upon.
Here are some images, they just came through today so I have also not had a chance to update my site. Night shots didn't turn out so well I think. Let me know what you think.
Oh! I just recalled that there was a t-shirt that you guys had if you managed to put a dome together. Please let me know how much they are. I would definitely like one.
I also might need to order some extra hub parts as I brought spares to Berlin from the US kit. What is the best of doing that?
Regards,
Adelle
