Greetings,
I was pointed to ZipTieDomes by my son Adam, who partnered with Jack Of CA, and featured in the Customer Review of our Geodesic Dome Hubs for the Burning Man Festival
(https://www.ziptiedomes.com/customers/jackfromca.htm).
Long story to short, I stole some ideas from Doug Sikora’s review and our greenhouse 16’ dia. silo dome is mostly complete.
Unfortunately, while I painted the hubs I didn’t treat the upper struts re plastic contact with PVC. I’ll deal with the consequences soon enough.
Otherwise, the dome’s assembly itself it wasn’t complicated at all.
What took the longest is the logistics setting it up level and secured, and using the ladder safely to complete the dome assembly once in place over the planters.
We took our time being I didn’t quite know what I was doing.
We expect to get a shade tarp in the spring, but for now the solar fan is working out well to moderate temperature and move air across the planters.
We’ll have a Screw Jack opener installed shortly on the roof vent door, to control the roof vent from the ground with a winding pole.
We’re hoping for a fall crop of a few veggies before winter, starting late in the season as it is.
