John
Attached are a coupla photos of my door and hatches in the walls to let my girls and guys out to work in the pasture.
Hatches:
I used 1" pvc with glued t's and 90's to fab the frames. 1/2" plywood on "zip tie" hinges secure with a bungee cord . Haven't had a mad rooster break out yet!
Walk in door:
The walk in door was installed close to the 4"center of the 5 foot apex to give it strength. the lower span was cut and t's installed to give it rigidity. the door frame is glued pipe 90's and tees.
I have a "t" at the bottom of the swinging door with a 6" long "hinge pin" in the dirt to support the door and give it stability.
I tried to stay with the "zip tie" format making the hinges for both hatch and door from zip ties.
The system is working well for the last month and have no complaints. Still have all my 17 light Brahmas I started with in February.
Am still gathering stuff to put my automatic door opener on the girls secure, varmint proof sleeping loft. When I get it done will send photos, may be a while as I have many projects on the burner and a wife that wants a remodeled bath room (somehow she wants priority, go figure).
