Hello back Zip Tie Domes!
In response, I couldn’t be happier - I was laughing like a school kid when I was putting it up. I’ve always wanted to build a dome, and now I have.
The zip tie hubs are ingenious - I researched a lot of hubs, and when I found your website, the order was soon on the way.
If I was doing it again, I would leave the black zip ties at the hubs quite loose, until the whole thing was in place, then tighten them up. But there is enough give that it is really no problem. The dome is amazingly strong once it is all in place.
As for the chicken wire, if one is just after function, you could swath the thing in chicken wire in a few hours and be done with it. But since mine is more permanent, I was after aesthetics as well as function.
The chicken wire took me a long time. I was working to keep every panel as tight as possible, to retain the dome shape, and I like how it turned out. Any folding I had to do is hidden by one of the struts.
The idea and method for the chunnel I also got off your website - it was in one of the customer reviews if I remember correctly.
We have planted vines on the southwest side, so when they grow up this summer, it will provide shade and looks. Also some more interesting paint than the white I slapped on while building the setup is on the way.
In summary, I love the dome and would recommend your product to anyone!
Thanks and take care – John.

PS - Regarding your shirt offer, I’d take an XXL.
PPS - the dog is just one of my attack dogs, vain enough to be in the picture.
