12 Reasons to Purchase Our Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractor Kits

(1) NO TOOLS REQUIRED

No tools are required for assembling our Geodesic Dome Kits. Just use the 120 lb Heavy Duty Zip Ties to connect the struts to the hubs. The instructions are easy, and the struts are pre-cut to fit perfectly.

This is better than building a wooden structure, where you need a drill, a power screwdriver, a skill saw to cut your struts, and a table saw to split your 2x4s into 2x2s. You also need the carpentry skills to use these tools, and all 10 of your fingers!

No Tools Required to Build the Geodesic Dome Kit.

(2) STRONG DESIGN

The Geodesic Dome Design is rugged and sturdy. You may build a rectangular structure out of PVC pipe, but you will not be able to do a chin-up on them, as shown in our Load Test video. Our domes are very sturdy!

The other PVC DIY Chicken Tractor designs use PVC joints that are meant for plumbing, not construction. These plumbing joints crack and break due to the leverage placed on them by the rectangular design in a standard PVC DIY Chicken Tractor. If you drag a rectangular PVC tractor long enough, the plumbing joints will become loose.

"PVC Geodesic Dome Load Test"

No other PVC DIY Chicken Tractor is this strong!

Our Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractors use interlocking triangles connected together with our patented hub design. Our hubs are designed to be flexible and not crack, and are specifically made for construction, not plumbing. We use UV Resistant 120 lb Heavy Duty Zip Ties.

(3) EASY TO MOVE

Our Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractors are lightweight and easy to move. The 10' Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractor is only 83 lbs in weight, and is easy to drag across the ground. The dome rests on rounded hubs, which keeps the struts above the ground so they won't snag on objects. This makes it easy to slide across the ground.

Now compare this to a DIY Chicken Tractor that has wooden or PVC struts resting directly on the ground.

Round Hubs On the Bottom Make Our DIY Chicken Tractor Easy to Move.

Every rock, every clump of grass, and every lump of soil, will hang up against the edge of the bottom struts when you try to move it. A wooden DIY Chicken Tractor can weigh over 200 lbs, which makes it difficult for most people to even lift up one end, much less drag it over rough ground. You need a farm tractor, an ATV, or a team of mules to move these DIY Chicken Tractors, and you will find it is more trouble than it is worth to move your tractor every day. You need a lightweight Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractor to encourage you to move your chickens every day.

(4) WILL NOT ROT

Our Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractors are made from PVC plastic, and will not rot or come apart.

All wooden tractors that are in contact with the wet ground will ultimately rot. PVC tractors made with plumbing joints will crack and wobble until the plumbing joints come apart. Our Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractors with our patented hub design will not rot.

(5) EASY TO TAKE APART

You can disassemble our Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractor if you need to move it to storage or for a long-distance move.

Just use wire cutters to clip all of the zip ties, and the Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractor easily disassembles, as seen in our video "How to Take Down a 16 Foot Dome".

This is not true with a wooden tractor, or a PVC tractor that is glued together with plumbing joints. You will have to destroy the DIY Chicken Tractor to collapse it for storage or for a long-distance move.

"How to Take Down a 16 Foot Dome"

Cut the Zip Ties, and the Tractor is Easy to Take Apart.

(6) LESS INJURY TO THE CHICKENS WHEN YOU MOVE THE TRACTOR

With our Geodesic hub design, the hubs on the ground keep the bottom struts about 2" off the ground, yet the chicken wire is stretched tightly and attached to the bottom of each hubs to keep predators from coming under the struts. With this setup, if you run over your chickens while pulling your tractor, the chickens will roll under the struts and then under the chicken wire and will most likely live.

With standard DIY Chicken Tractors where the struts are dragging directly on the ground, your chickens will have a greater injury and may be crushed by the weight of the tractor if they get caught underneath the tractor when you move it.

The bottom struts are 2" off the ground, with the chicken wire tightly stretched across the space from the bottom of each hub. This keeps the predators out, yet does not injure the chicken while moving the dome.

(7) NO CORNERS TO SMOTHER CHICKENS

Our Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractors are round, and have no corners for crowding and smothering.

For a rectangular DIY Chicken Tractor, smothering is a real problem, as chickens will pile up in the corners and smother themselves.

This is the only DIY Chicken Tractor that does not have a corner where your chickens can smother themselves.

There is no corner in a Geodesic Dome.

(8) THE RIGHT SIZE TRACTOR FOR A LARGE FLOCK

Our Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractors are large enough to be effective. Other types of DIY Chicken Tractors are too small, and can only hold 4-8 chickens. If the other DIY Chicken Tractor designs are big enough to hold more chickens, then they are too heavy to move.

Our 10' Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractor has 91 square feet of floor space to hold 20-45 chickens, yet weighs only 83 lbs. The 16' dome has 205 square feet and can hold 50 to 100 chickens, yet weighs 113 lbs.

(9) YOU CAN WALK INSIDE OUR TRACTOR TO WORK WITH YOUR CHICKENS

Our Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractor kits come with a swinging door, and it is large enough to let you walk inside the DIY Chicken Tractor and work with your individual chickens without crawling.

Other tractors are too small to enter standing up, and you may have to crawl on your hands and knees through chicken poop to capture an individual chicken.

It is easy to stand up and walk inside our Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractor.

Other portable DIY Chicken Tractors are so low to the ground that you will have to wait until after nightfall when the chickens are asleep to capture an individual chicken. Otherwise, when you open the top of a small DIY Chicken Tractor during the daytime, the chickens will fly out!

You need to be able to work with your chickens at any time of the day, without crawling through chicken poop. You need a Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractor from Zip Tie Domes.

(10) THE GEODESIC DIY Chicken Tractor CAN DOUBLE AS A GREENHOUSE

Our Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractors have multiple uses. If you sell all of your chickens and want a greenhouse, just take off the chicken wire and put on greenhouse plastic.

Other rectangular DIY Chicken Tractors cannot do this, as they cannot shed water from the greenhouse plastic in the middle of the tractor. The water will pool up in the middle of the roof, and collapse the structure.

With our Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractor, the natural curve of the geodesic design will easily shed water from the greenhouse plastic.

Replace the chicken wire with plastic, and you have a greenhouse.

(11) THE GEODESIC DIY Chicken Tractor DESIGN IS VERSATILE AND CAN WORK EVEN IN THE WINTER

The spherical design of the Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractor is strong, like an egg shell. What a great place to raise chickens!

And the strength of the Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractor makes it versatile enough to use year-round. To winterize your dome, just put a tarp or plastic sheet over it, then put hay down on the ground. When the hay gets dirty, move the dome. (By moving the dome year round, it makes it very hard for the dome to harbor mites or other pests, which is common problem for all stationary chicken coops.)

Just wire a plastic container to the inside of the dome for a nesting box.

To make perches, hang 1/2" PVC pipe from the ceiling. For a nest box, hang a plastic container from the side of the dome, and fill it with hay. Since the Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractor is strong enough to do a chin-up on, installing hanging chicken waterers from the roof will not be a problem.

(12) AT ONLY $2.08 PER SQUARE FOOT, THE GEODESIC DIY Chicken Tractor HAS THE MOST FLOOR SPACE FOR THE LOWEST COST

The Best Price Per Square Foot

The 16' Geodesic DIY Chicken Tractor has 205 square feet of floor space for 50 or more chickens.

At $365.00 this is $1.78 a square foot.

When you buy a roll of 4' x 150' chicken wire at your local store for $62.00, the cost comes out to $2.08 a square foot.

This is the best value per square foot for any moveable DIY Chicken Tractor.
